Registration Stuck
If your ACX Lab registration has been in a "Pending" or "In Progress" state for an unusually long time, use this guide to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Expected Provisioning Times
| Step | Expected Time |
|---|---|
| Email verification | Instant (after you click the link) |
| Entra guest account creation | 1–5 minutes |
| Entra invitation email | 1–10 minutes |
| On-prem AD account creation | 5–15 minutes |
| RBAC assignment | 5–15 minutes |
| Resource group creation | 1–5 minutes |
| Total end-to-end | 15–30 minutes |
If your registration has been stuck for more than 30 minutes, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Check the Status Page
- Navigate to https://aka.ms/acxlab-onboarding
- Enter your
@microsoft.comemail - Identify which step is stuck
Step 2: Diagnose by Stuck Step
Stuck on "Email Verification"
You haven't clicked the verification link yet.
- Check your
@microsoft.cominbox for the verification email - Check Junk/Clutter/Spam folders
- If not found, go back to the registration portal and click Resend verification
- Ensure you registered with your primary
@microsoft.comaddress (not an alias)
Stuck on "Entra Guest Account Creation"
The automation that creates your Entra guest account may have failed.
Possible causes:
- The automation service is temporarily unavailable
- A transient Azure AD error occurred
- Your email address triggered a validation issue
Fix:
- Wait 15 minutes and check status again
- If still stuck after 30 minutes, try re-registering (the system is idempotent — it won't create duplicate accounts)
- If re-registration doesn't help, contact the ACX Lab team
Stuck on "Entra Invitation"
Your Entra guest account was created, but the invitation email hasn't been sent or received.
Fix:
- Check your email (including Junk/Clutter) for an email from
invites@microsoft.com - If not found, wait 10 minutes — email delivery can be delayed
- If still missing, the ACX Lab team can manually resend the invitation
Stuck on "AD Account Creation"
The on-premises AD account creation depends on connectivity between Azure and the on-prem domain controller.
Possible causes:
- The Azure-to-on-prem VPN tunnel is down
- The domain controller is unreachable
- The AD account creation automation failed
Fix:
- Wait 30 minutes — the automation retries every 10 minutes
- If still stuck after 1 hour, this likely indicates an infrastructure issue
- Contact the ACX Lab team — they may need to check the VPN tunnel or domain controller
Stuck on "RBAC Assignment"
Your Azure role assignments are being applied but haven't propagated yet.
Fix:
- RBAC propagation can take up to 15 minutes — this is normal Azure behavior
- Wait 15 minutes and check the status page again
- After propagation, try logging into the Azure portal and switching to the ACX Lab tenant
- If still stuck after 30 minutes, contact the ACX Lab team
Stuck on "Resource Group Creation"
Your personal resource group is being created in the ACX Lab subscription.
Fix:
- Wait 10 minutes
- If stuck, the subscription may have hit a resource group limit
- Contact the ACX Lab team
Step 3: Re-Register (If Needed)
If your registration is stuck and the above steps haven't helped:
- Go to the ACX Registration portal at https://aka.ms/acxlab-onboarding
- Enter the same
@microsoft.comemail - Submit again — the system detects existing partial registrations and retries the failed steps
- Check the status page after 15 minutes
!!! note "Re-registration is safe" The registration system is idempotent. Re-registering will not create duplicate accounts or interfere with existing provisioned resources. It simply retries any steps that haven't completed.
Step 4: Contact the ACX Lab Team
If re-registration doesn't resolve the issue within 30 minutes, reach out in the ACX Lab Teams channel with:
- Your
@microsoft.comemail address - Which registration step is stuck (from the status page)
- How long it has been stuck
- Whether you've tried re-registering
